Vancouver Island Drug Checking Project

Provided by University of Victoria

Offers free and confidential drug checking services for a variety of substances to reduce injury and death caused by poisoned drugs in Victoria.
The team uses multiple drug checking instruments to identify a sample’s main active ingredients, fillers or cutting agents, any unexpected substances, and the presence of fentanyl. In-person services are available, with results typically provided on the spot within 30 minutes. During busier times, the turnaround may take 1–2 hours. The last sample is accepted at 6:30 PM, and it is recommended that samples be dropped off earlier in the day to ensure same-day results.
